Conceal and Carry Permits
The Sheriff's Office issues concealed carry permits to Lewis County residents in accordance with Missouri law. While the statute is subject to change each year, residents are generally eligible to apply for a concealed carry permit once they reach the age of 19.
Before applying for the permit, applicants must complete a firearms safety course taught by an instructor approved by the Sheriff. After completing the training, applicants should contact the Sheriff's Office to schedule an appointment.
During the appointment, you will need to provide proof of completion of the firearms safety course and a valid form of Missouri identification. You will then be fingerprinted using a LiveScan system. This information is forwarded to the NICS center for review.
The Sheriff's Office has forty-five (45) days to complete the background investigation. Once approved, you will receive a concealed carry card issued by the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.
