Sheriff David Parrish
David Parrish has served as Sheriff of Lewis County since 2000, giving him more than 25 years of service as the county's elected sheriff and making him one of the longest-serving law enforcement leaders in the region.
Sheriff Parrish's public service began before his election as sheriff. Earlier in his career, he served as a Deputy Juvenile Officer, gaining experience working with juveniles, families, the courts, and law enforcement agencies throughout the area.
Since taking office, Sheriff Parrish has overseen the many responsibilities of the Lewis County Sheriff's Office, including patrol operations, criminal investigations, the Lewis County Jail, court security, civil process, emergency response, budget and cooperation with municipal, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
His service has also extended beyond Lewis County. Parrish has held leadership positions with the Missouri Sheriffs' Association, serving as First Vice President in 2018 before later serving as President of the Missouri Sheriffs' Association in 2019 and 2020. In that role, he represented sheriffs and law enforcement interests from across the State of Missouri.
Throughout his tenure, Sheriff Parrish has emphasized cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. His office has continued to work alongside area Sheriff's Office's, police departments, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, schools, emergency services, prosecutors, and other local and state and Federal partners to address crime and public safety concerns throughout Lewis County.
In 2026, Sheriff Parrish continues to serve as the elected Sheriff of Lewis County, leading the Sheriff's Office in Monticello, Missouri
