Details:
On October 24, 2025, the Lewis County Prosecutor's Office requested our office to investigate complaints of passing bad checks. An investigation was conducted and learned three businesses in the Canton, Lewis County, Missouri area, had been defrauded, totaling $1,911.17. A suspect was identified as Allyson M. Nelson of Quincy, Illinois.
A probable cause statement was filed by Sheriff David Parrish and submitted to the Lewis County Prosecutor's Office. On December 9, 2025, Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney Chelsea Fellinger formally charged Allyson Nelson with six counts of Passing a Bad Check, Class E felonies. On December 10, 2025, the Honorable Corey Moon, Associate Circuit Judge, issued a warrant for Nelson's arrest.
On December 11, 2025, Allyson Nelson was arrested in Adams County, Illinois, and subsequently transported to the Lewis County Jail, where she remains incarcerated in lieu of a $10,000 cash-only bond.
