Details: On August 18, 2025, members of the Lewis County Sheriff's Office were called to a domestic disturbance in Maywood, Missouri.  Upon arrival, investigating deputies learned Joshua H. Hedgpeth, age 43, of Hannibal, Missouri, had allegedly forced open a door and unlawfully entered a residence in order to make contact with his wife.  He had fled the scene before law enforcement could arrive.  Upon further investigation, investigators learned Hedgpeth had pushed his wife as well.

Deputies requested assistance from surrounding agencies in order to locate the suspect.  Members of the Hannibal Police Department located Hedgpeth operating a motor vehicle in Hannibal and conducted a traffic stop.  He was then arrested and taken into custody at the request of the Sheriff's Office.  He was then transported to the Lewis County Jail.

Deputy Mathias Frank then sought formal charges through the Lewis County Prosecutor Chelsea Fellinger.  Hedgpeth was then charged with the class B felony of burglary in the 1st degree, the class A misdemeanor of assault in the 4th degree, and two class B misdemeanors for peace disturbance and property damage.

The Honorable Corey Moon, Associate Judge, then issued a warrant for Mr. Hedgpeth.

He remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash only bond.
